Make your dream a reality

target1Written goals have been shown to be more successful than imagined ones.  They play an important part not only in succeeding in sport, business and personal challenges, but also in pain management and rehabilitation after injury.

S.M.A.R.T. goals are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time based. “A goal without structure is just a dream”. ”  A little planning can save time and prevent disappointment from unforeseen hurdles.

SPECIFIC:  The goal must clearly state what is to be achieved, by whom, where and when it is to be achieved.

MEASURABLE:  Both the end result and the milestones along the way to attaining a goal need to be measurable in order to know when it is achieved or progress has been made.  It answers the question of quantity – how much, how often, how many? The milestones are steps along the way that will tell you that you are on the right track to achieving your goal or not and may need help.

ACHIEVABLE:  Ensure that the goals you set are realistic and achievable.

RELEVANT:   Your goals must be relevant to YOU.  Not someone else’s dream or expectation.

TIME-BASED:  Deadlines can be can be a good motivator that helps us to stop procrastinating.
